1988 Girls Named National Champs!!!
The modern day cross country scene boasts an official championship meet, the Nike Cross Nationals, to crown a true national champion. Prior to 2004, there was no national meet.
From 1989 to 2003, respected running author Marc Bloom published the “Harrier Super 25” national rankings which crowned a national champion on paper.
Now, a popular running website Mile Split, is going back, doing research, and crowning national champions for the years prior to 1989.
The Palos Verdes Girls of 1988 have been named girls national champions. Congratulations to them and a big thank you to Mile Split for taking the time to help recognize teams from years gone by.
